the fix is in...

well not really, but we got the ok to move forward with pouring base and installing metal supports where we had brick columns (that weren't doing much in the 1st place)... thank you Rob! (although I'm not sure if a site visit and associated billable hour(s) were required)

during the process of excavation we found a nice tunnel leading to:
A) Al Capone's vault
B) a dead body
C) fortune and treasure beyond my wildest imagination
D) another hole that's full of dust and stuff

comment your guesses / thoughts on this please

I'm not small enough to fit in there to figure this about and it'll be all filled in by Monday anyway

the HVAC supply and returns were mapped and we will get to keep the soffit in the basement unfortunately (but we will have 4 returns (min) on the second floor so the kids and guests will be comfy)

wall framing has begun and is approaching 75% completion...(that was quick) only problems is that we'll now need to design a kitchen around having two stairs in a walk way since the headroom for the opening is restricted (and it's not like the kitchen was huge to begin with) plus we need to do more structural in the basement

I was able to walk through with the electrician and we have a good handle on lights and switches (lots of 3 & 4 way stuff)

Plumbing contract was executed so rough in plumbing starts next week as well (copper and not PEX thank you) the HVAC guys are rolling through everything as well and I think we're good (although the guy in charge is a serious smoker of the phish kind)

up next is ordering the appliances (range/fridge) and all the low voltage cabling (looking at 4-6 CAT5/6 drops per room + 2 Coax) so the house will be WIRED! fun stuff...
