it's Friday...

so i feel better about the house BUT i'm not sure we'll be able to technically "move in" on Tuesday:

mechanical inspection: fail

electrical inspection: fail

plumbing inspection: no show / ran away

on a positive note the fireplace works, all appliances are set, and so are the three furnaces. as a quote from one of the "tin men"; "in over 25 years of working out here your house has to have been on of the most challenging"

anyhow... they still need to install the condensers, attic fans and whole house fan to make it all come together... also there was f*k up with the shower door enclosure (both of them) net-net; i'm not happy about paying more for a re-do AND we're another 3-4 days out from having glass doors for the showers (but the man cave and the guest bath should be done)

we also got a visitor in the library, check out that huge moth

more updates as they become available but it still looks like we'll be living out of a suitcase for at least a day or two...

crunch time

mental note: there's a significant amount of stress and frustration associated with the last week or so of a remodeling project. from moneys owed (and disputed) to just getting things done quickly and correctly and I really don't think 4 months or 8 would change that... it's just the nature of the beast i guess

taking bets on next Monday...

things are moving forward BUT... we need an inspection and that is not going to happen until everything is done.... lot's of fire drills yesterday and today... with more tomorrow (i'm sure)

I'm not too thrilled with some of the fixtures but the guys threw out all the boxes so i can't return them @!#!@%$@$!!@#$@#$ I guess it's one of those things that we'll figure out.... mental note; don't buy stuff from a catalog unless you really get the feel for the space and you can return things easily.

3 steps forward 1 step back

feeling better than last week but I'm still not sure everything will be wrapped by Friday...

floor on main level was stained, the new fireplace looks SO small (needs a mantle really bad)

guest bath vanity is in...


kids bath is surprisingly roomy (and so is the man cave)

3rd floor needs a little corrective action...


less than 8 days to go...

master bath is looking good...



unfortunately the electricians wired everything with the "standard" flip switched and round receptacles :(



stairway is stained and ready and we have hardware on two closet doors on the 3rd floor

there are lots of loose ends (as i'm getting used to the green office)

such as the completing the casing / paint and the quality of the paint work

we move in two weeks (can't believe it) and we're not sure everything will be ready by then
